    S&W Model 60

Wht do people think of this? Looking for a small revolver for the bed side table. want to be able to load either .357 or .38. Thoughts?

I'm a big fan of S&W J frame revolvers and have several in my collection, but for a night stand gun I'd rather go with a three or four inch model 19 or 66. Unless concealment is an issue the K frame easier to shoot accurately and gives you one additional shot.

The model 60 would be a perfect bedside gun if you don't mind the short barrel compared to a longer one.

Love it. Try to find a pre lock. Nice little shooters. Can take some practice to master, but for conversation distance, it is a great gun. I'll take it over all the 380s you can find. Shouldn't be your primary piece, but it is a handsome little thing.

Since carry and concealability are not part of the considerations then you shouldn't give up controllability, capacity and sight radius. That said, IMO you will be better off with a K,L or N frame wheelie.

Agree with the above. I'm carrying a Model 60 as I type this, but it's not my night stand gun.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

Unless you have small hands (wife has model 60 as bedside gun) I would recomend a k/l frame with a 3-6 inch barrel.

you'd be imposing a handicap of the J-frames small size, increased recoil and less than idea coil spring powered action on yourself when you don't need to with a nightstand gun. loading it with .357mag ammo would only make a borderline controllable gun less manageable.

I'd also recommend you go up to a K or L-frame size and longer barrel.

I agree with the other posts. If you only want something for HD, then a 60 is a bit small.

That being said, I think the Model 60 is one of the sexiest snubbies of them all
Built like a tank and small enough to carry in your pocket (not light enough, but small enough).

Here's mine. I changed the factory grip with a smaller one to make it even smaller.

those are the same grips I have on my 642...conceal nicely and still offer a lot of control.

I've owned three M-60s, but they never lasted...the hammers always ended up snagging at bad times

S&W Model 66 is a fine K frame revolver that would serve anyone well imo; the 4" barrel would be a benefit.

ok, if going a bit longer will help how about the Model M&P360
