    1911 .45 Question...??

Checking the CA DOJ approved handgun list -

Only the Sig and S&W are listed as approved models for the 1911 in .45 -

Are there others available that are not designated by the 1911 model series -

Or possibly marketed under another model description...?

    Thanx, DISC

There are MANY 1911s in .45ACP on the roster, they just don't have "1911" in the name.

Look through Springfield Armory, Armscor, Kimber, Colt, Wilson Combat, Les Baer, Ed Brown, etc.

        Im trying to find a cosmeticly "less-than-perfect" 1911 -

Both here and on GunBroker -

But matching up each possibility to the DOJ list is kind of a pain in the azz.

Guess thats the curse of being a cheap bastage....

        Thanx for the help, DISC

Well if you buy from the calguns market place it doesn't have to be on the list as long as you PPT it face to face.

The full length dust cover rail makes a world of difference in the "when I run out of bullets I'm going to beat you to death with the pistol" look that causes bad guys to run in fear, and lesser men to feel inadequate. It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

But really that'd be a great score. I really don't care for od or desert tan but I'd buy it and refinish if I could afford it right now
