    Hk 45

Don't know if this has been posted before. Does anyone know when or if the HK 45 will be available to the Kalifornia market? Just to make it clear, Im not talking about a USP 45. This is what Im talking about

Does it have a magazine disconnect? I don't think it's even out on the free America market.

I thought HK submitted it before the deadline??? I would imagine about June if the former is correct but good luck on finding one. They'll be way back ordered. I'd say around Christmas you should be able to buy them w/o much wait.

There was some scuttlebutt on HKpro a while back that an HK rep said HK had submitted samples for Calif. testing last year.

My feeling is that if HK had indeed submitted the HK45 before Jan 1st, they would have been approved by now.

Maybe, maybe not. I think we all know the speed at which gov't moves when their isn't something in it for them.

I don't think the HK45, HK45c, P30 & P30L will be avilable to the civilian market in CA.

If H&K had submited them last year, they should have already been on the approved list by now.

What HK's actions/policies are is unclear.

They are a notoriously finicky company with a bit of a 'God complex'.

At 2006 SHOT Show, I asked one of the HK reps about a USP (fullsize) in 357Sig, or conversion kit thereof for the 40S&W guns. I'd mentioned that noted competent aftermarket barrel builders had had feed problems with 357Sig conversions (Jarvis, BarSto, etc.) and felt it involved the magazine, and asked if HK managed to surmount these issues - as I was eager for a 357sig USP full size or conversion kit.

The HK rep basically said that "those guys are turkeys" and there was no reason HK would not do a 357Sig HK USP other than whether or not they wanted to. I then asked why HK would not do a USP fullsize in 357Sig given their USP Compact had been available in that caliber for several years prior to that if it were so readily achievable. The response was just "our magazines are fine".

Bill, it's not just HK, it's pretty much all the German companies who don't get the American market. VW for instance won't bring their Lupo in which is rated at 75mpg with the diesel engine though you can get upwards of 90mpg in it if you drive it right. Seems they don't care to sell a car here that would sell off of the showroom floor so fast you'd never see one there.

Not quite the same thing. VW can't bring that diesel in here because it does not yet meet US and/or CA emissions requirements for automobiles (i.e, non-trucks).

They don't bring the gas ones in either though. I'm not sure that it wouldn't pass. They have brought in their V10 diesel and my V4 diesel. I love my V4 diesel but my AC blower motor just went out, argh!!!! I gotta fix that soon. Dallas is a bit to hot to live w/o AC!!!

Diesels are very freaky with CO and particulate output. They run very near the limits and I think some engines may pass and some just may not without 'major surgery'.

Fwiw, the HK rep I spoke with at the 2007 SHOT show said that the HK45 will be submitted to CA for certification. No mention of submissions for testing in 2006. He also said the HK45 is designed to be fitted with or without a magazine disconnect, as required.

So, I'm guessing, if, for some reason, the 2006 ones didn't get certified, the 2007 ones will becoming in w/ mag disconnects...

If HK submitted the pistols prior to the deadline then they should have already been tested and certified. Unless there is a huge backlog of guns to test but seeing as how there hasn't been any new pistols for a little over 2 months already I doubt it.

HK says the HK45 will be available in June through out the free states.

Good to know. Now does anyone have an estimate on a price?
