    CHP commemorative

Is anyone familiar with a S&W Model 19 CHP commemorative revolver from 1974? My father has one that he bought new. It has some gold inlay and its never been touched by anything but a silicon cloth. I couldn't find any information in the gun blue, and we're curious about its value, number made, etc. I did find info on the internet that the CHP purchased the guns from Smith and Wesson and then someone else did the pretty work. If anyone knows about these guns, I'd appreciate your help.

My father purchased the S&W Model 19 S.F.P.D. commemorative. Last I looked, I think it was worth about $1,200.00

I'm not sure what the actual blue book value is, but I followed simmilar ones on Gunsamerica and as far as I can remember, they sold for about that price.

Wow! That's a lot lower than when I was trying to price the SFPD Commemorative.

Another good place to ask is over at www.smith-wessonforum.com, where they know quite a bit about such things.

Definitely the best S&W resource on the planet!

            1974 or 1979?? I know S&W made a bunch for CHP's 50th Anniversary in '79. I believe they are C&R too.
