My new 460, warning picture heavy.

    Hello,

I just returned from picking up my new wheelgun, S&W 460 XVR NRA Gun of the Year. Here is a few pics, I apologize for the quality but, I was in a hurry.

This is her sitting on a small car floor mat that I use for a gun mat.

You can sort of see the ports just above the changeable compensator

The NRA freedom eagle engraved on the side.

Just to give some perspective, that is a full size Kimber .45 acp underneath. It makes my Kimber look like a compact.

Very nice! I've been wanting to get a S&W .500 for a while... just because. I like that comparison photo!

      Congrats on the new gun.

A fellow I met at the range let me fire off a couple of rounds through his .460 Mag. The recoil was quite stout, but not as heavy as I anticipated.

      Have fun with her.

My wife wants one of those... I don't think she could lift it, let alone fire it.

It is 4.5 pounds empty. That helps a lot with recoil. After tomorrow's chores, I'm off to the range.

donger, stout is a good choice of words. One of my favorite things to do at the range is watch people rent the .500 and put full loads through it. More than once I've seen someone try to bury that thing in their forehead.

ibanezfoo, it's huge. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to carry it this season. I'm thinking tactical wheelbarrow.

Plus you can shoot .45 LC and .454 Casull through her!

                  Beautiful gun!

There were some people in the lane next to me last week at Reed's who had rented the 460 XVR. It was quite a boomer; I was testing a 20 gauge semi, and it sounded like a .22 next to the 460.

Each time they'd touch it off, I could feel the concussion right through the dividing wall. It was literally a physical thump. I'm pretty good at ignoring other people's muzzle blast, but this one definitely got my attention.

Luckily, the ammo's really expensive, so they were shooting slowly!

Haha here I have this picture of a guy running through the woods ninja like and all cammo'd out with full tac gear, pushing a flat black wheelbarrow with a light on one side and laser on the the other.... picatinny setup on the handles... big *** revolver at the ready inside.
