    S&W SD9/40 in CA

Will we see these pistols for sale in Ca. seem like a good entry level 9mm for general range use. been wanting a basic no thrills 9mm and been looking at the Ruger SR9 as well as some others. But not seeing it on the Ca list.

Talking to my guy at the store, we will never see the S&W SD nor the 4th gen glocks. No mag disconnect safety.

that was one thing i was curious about. when looking through the list i noticed the M&P(and other semis) all had mag safety..im ignorant on the requirments on handguns to be on the list. What does it do. keep you from dropping the mag on accident?
Edit: of read up on it. is this feature only on hammerless/striker fire handguns? my 1911 functions w/o a mag

but damn looked so promising for mid end 9mm.

The M&P line is being pretty aggressively targeted to the law enforcement market. There are agencies out there require the mag disconnect so S&W has a very wide variety of SKUs to accommodate as many departments as possible. Since the SD line is being marketed to the average Joe, they don't quite have the incentive to come up with as many inventory hogging variations. But, I have a feeling that S&W may still come up with a version with the mag disconnect.

I'm sure there are hammer fired handguns out there with the magazine disconnect. Not the best example but my Walther P22 is hammer fired and has the disconnect. It's my only gun that has it.
