Nice piece! I am still kicking myself for selling my 1911 last year when I wanted to get the XD .45ACP. Love the XD and I sold the 1911 to a friend with a family that only had a .22 revolver for home protection...so it went to a good cause.

Time for me to make a trip to Darin’s Gun Exchange and browse the SA section.

The TRP is one of the SA that I find quite tempting...CONGRATS on winning the auction!

I don't know how you beat the TRP for value to performance- yours is pretty as a picture, and as a TRP owner I can say you'll be astonished at the inherent accuracy and fit of the gun in hand . Not to mention I STILL haven't had a stovepipe, FTF or FTE in 600+ rnds.
            Enjoy it.
            Shoot it.

That's an awesome looking TRP. I kind of found myself to like Springfields wood grip designs, especially on their SS models.

That Hogue grip is functional, but ugly.

Believe me I was the exact same way. Only the dark black/tactical look for me....now, as I get more into this hobbie, I'm starting to like a wood or Cocobolo mixture w/ certain guns....especially 1911's!

I've got 5 TRPs (well, including my Pro) so I'll let that tell you what I think of them.

Just ditch that little tool of the devil that's in there (the two-piece guide rod) and replace with some JMB goodness (standard GI rod & plug) and then it'll really be good to go!

As far as "how do you beat a TRP for value"....well, you don't.

I firmly believe that the TRP by Springfield represents the best value in a 1911 currently on the market.

                            Enjoy that bad boy!!!
