I would post a witty and semi-comedic response, but then I remembered that with all the laws going on, most people wouldn't know where to start. I had a buddy of mine that moved here from out of the country (in his native country, its pretty easy to obtain firearms...), and he was put under the impression that you have to have passed several exams and obtain a "gun license"...

as long as youre not a felon, nor criminal history of violence, nor mentally irregular, nor give any suspicion that you are going to use a firearm illegally, you can easily buy a gun and "legally arm yourself", provided you have a valid state/federal photo ID.
