i have a xd 4" service model....it is a non ported gun and i was reading on the internet that you cannot buy the v-10 ported barrel or slide.......my question is does anyone know of a company around the bay area that will make my barrel and slide ported? i was also wondering if anyone has done this to their handgun before? is there any disadvantages to doing this? thanks for your help....

Its not recommended to be used for personal protection, just in case you are in a situation that you may have to fire your pistol crouching or in an awkward position.
I think Springfield's custom shop will do it also, just so you can keep the warranty.
Another option is an extended ported barrel, that way there is no frame modification.
For range use, porting should help with muzzle flip...it looks dam cool when shot, looking for a XD40-V10 myself

someone is actually selling one....i forget the price he wanted.....when you say not good for personal protection, is it because the flash would blind me or is it that it would give my location away....the reason i ask is that it is for personal, home defense, and range......Its not recommended to be used for personal protection, just in case you are in a situation that you may have to fire your pistol crouching or in an awkward position.

Example, lye down and quickly point your gun left or right...naturally for me: if it was a ported gun, those ports are pretty much pointed at me.someone is actually selling one....i forget the price he wanted.....when you say not good for personal protection, is it because the flash would blind me or is it that it would give my location away....the reason i ask is that it is for personal, home defense, and range......
One less thing to worry in an unknown stressed situation.Comment
