I don't know if you've checked out a P228 but I'd recommend that. I found the P229 to be top heavy while the P228 has perfect balance. Both frames are the same, just the P229 is milled (so it could handle the pressure from the .40cal).

If you are wanting a 9mm the P228 might be a better choice.


Edited: Ooops I see you want a rail gun. Can't get that in a P228, but you can get the rail adapter for $20.

I would agree on that one. The P229 was really meant to be in .40 or .357. Eventhough I have a rail on my P226 (which I am not totally sold on yet, outside of the "cool factor," because nothing seems to stay put after couple hundred rounds) I don't think I would want a rail on the P229 with a shorter barrel.

yes, this is primarily why i was asking, i already own a 228 but was interested in a railed version.. hence the 229R. have any of you put an aftermarket rail on your 228.. who makes those.. ?
