    FFL TO FFL

    Hi gang,

I found someone wanting to buy my Colt 1991 from out of state. How do I send it to him legally???

Should I used a local LGS to send the gun to his LGS? How much do local Bay Area gunstores chage for this? How do I keep a record for the BATF that I sold off the gun? How long do I keep the record??

    Thanks for any response!

there is no requirement tht you use an FFL to ship it to the receiving FFL. You can just box it up and ship it directly to the FFL via UPS/Fedex (you can't use USPS). Check to make sure tht the FFL is valid using the ATF's EZ-check website and enter the FFL number you get from the FFL. I'd also check iwth the receiving FFL to make sure they accept shipments from non-licensees, not all do. Not for legal reasons, but for personal reasons.

YOu don't need to keep any records for BATF, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to print out the EZ-check page and maybe keep a copy of the shipping info, just so tht you could point BATF to where you shipped it to, if a trace of the handgun ever came up to you.

I'd also suggest filing a NLIP form with CADOJ so they can update the AFS records to show that you sold the gun.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

No posts of mine are to be construed as legal advice, which can only be given by a lawyer.
