    New proof of residence question

I'm guessing a business license for a home business would work. It's a gov issued license, with your name, address, and expiration date.

    Anyone try it?

I would doubt it can be used. It shows your business address with no indication that it is also your home address.

I use the car reg., water bill, or my 03FFL, that one always bugs Turners. I was just curious as I was applying for one the other day an noticed all the info show up. The reason I ask is that it has a place to specify that it's a home business.

Using the C & R is about an 80% success rate for me.

I bought an S & W 37 from Castro Valley a few weeks ago, used my PG & E and had to return later with my C & R - they said on handgun purchases the phone bill or utility are no longer acceptable. Is that correct or are they just being "more careful"?

C&R has been pretty hit and miss for me too. Most places take it, some wont.

Surprisingly, Turners (of all places) accepted it.

i had to educate a dealer about the ffl03. i told him why it was acceptable. we looked it up on the cadoj website and he called another dealer who confirmed it.

i guess it depends on whether or not the dealer is willing to listen.

Sounds like a top notch dealer. I assume he's not in Norcal?

I had a dealer tell me I needed a fishing or hunting licence, which they would sell me... All because my DL adress isnt current, but I have updated DMV records, I dont own car or home, so all I have was rental contract, which they didnt acept for the purchase, are all nor cal dealers a bit off?

A fishing or hunting license IS NOT valid for use as proof of address. It is not a government issued document and the purchaser is usually the one who fills out the information on the license.

Surprising since most dealers here will charge you up the yin and not offer any real help.
