    Glock barrel movement

Practicing with some dummy rounds today I noticed that the barrel of my g23 flexes slightly at tip by the guide rod, maybe 1/32 of an inch. I can push the barrel down toward the trigger and you can definately see it move. Is this normal? 1/32 it's much but at 25 yards it definately makes a different

I think "flex" is an inappropriate word to use, lol. I can guarantee your barrel isn't "flexing." However, if you're talking about the slight movement that the barrel has when not in battery, this is normal. It doesn't cause any problems and is to be expected from any pistol of this type.

Ok I'll change the wording, the barrel movement. And it does it with a round chambered, at least with a snap cap. I haven't tried it with a live round.

I do believe it's normal. Glock barrels don't lock up as tightly as, say, a fitted 1911 barrel, but it still shoots better than most can hold. (Which begs the question: How well can you shoot at 25 yds.? Well enough to notice the difference between a stock Glock and a custom fitted Bar-Sto barreled 1911? If not, I wouldn't sweat the barrel movement.)

Do you mean the upward tilt of the barrel tip during lock up?

This is completely normal in short-recoil operated pistols such as a Glock, in fact a vast majority of pistols today use this Browning's locked-breech design. Some notable exceptions are the Beretta pistols (92 and Px4)

No I'm talking about being able to grab the front of the slide and the trigger guard and squeze them together where this is a noticable movement. My cheap er hi-point doesn't have as much movement.

most likely its not the 'barrel' moving but rather the whole upper (slide and barrel) right? it is normal. as long as the slide moves along with the barrel but is locked up together at the lug, accuracy should not be affected. if they barrels moves (significantly) from the slide at lock up, accuracy will suffer.

My g22 is the same, it's normal. If the recoil was opposite and pushed downward I think it may be an issue, but with physics being what they are I feel we're pretty safe.

I think that the barrel tilts 'up' during unlock. During lockup the barrel goes back into battery and regains its horizontal origin prior to the firing sequence.
