    Custom Grips for Makarov

I'm considering replacing the grips on a Makarov with wood from here. http://www.marschalgrips.com/hires/hires.html

This guy has so many options when ordering the grip; wood type, grip patters, and finish. I'm leaning either for a redish wood/stain or a real dark stained grip. Like this one http://www.marschalgrips.com/hires/p...hek-ongun1.jpg . These guys have some exotic woods. I like the zebra wood maybe staind red. Check em out and if you got a recommendation I'd like to hear it.

So another question is should I get smooth grips or checked and why. I've never shot wood grips. Is smooth going to lauch right outa my hand if I sweat. Is checked gonna chew up my palm?

Im my experience with checkered wood on my 1911 it doesn't feel to abrasive for me.. Smooth I cannot tell you.. I personally like the rosewood color of the 2nd link and wanted some for my 1911 but I think on 2tone gun they look kinda tacky.. an all black maka with rosewood would look nice in checkered grips to me personally. Just my input..

I have some on a CZ with the "wattle" wood, half checkered, and with a reddish stain. They look a lot like this:

There was a wait, but the vendor was easy to deal with and a real pro.
The checkering is not too abrasive, and the finger notches and thumb rest help to keep a grip on things.

That color is about what I'm saying on rosewood.. Those are beautiful man.. I love that dark cherry/red color on wood grips against a black gun.. I think what went with on my 1911 was like a black walnut type grip which looks nice but I threw on some hogues are a better feel and I STILL haven't gone shooting and its already been like 2+ mths since I swapped em. Since I picked up my glock 22 I'm really thinking about hitting the range this weekend to check out both guns.

Get the checkered red grips with the star in the middle of the panel.

I agree.. that color is beautiful and the red star accents them nicely.. All you need to do after is join the red army and/or KGB and you're set

Nice grips, they almost make that FEG PA-63 look like a good gun

The Marschal grips do look very nice.

However, the wood is slightly larger than the standard plastic.
