i have been noticing some of those kimber custom shop guns are well priced. Such as the Raptor series, gold match, and target match guns. seems they can be had for around 1000-1200. anyone have experiene with them as target pistols? i have been eyeing them for a while now. what kind of expectation should i have regarding accuracy. someone told me they all have a 1" guarantee at 25 yards.

Honestly, I never saw the point of "Custom Shop" Kimbers. CDPs are dime a dozen, as well as the Raptors, and the custom shop guns use the same parts as the Custom II.
For the price those guns are commanding, you start to get into semi-custom 1911 territory.
I do feel Kimber makes great production 1911s, but I wouldn't pay the money for a Kimber "Custom Shop" 1911. -

Custom Shop guns are fit a bit better than the normal production guns. They use cherry picked parts. I think my CDP Pro (it was under $1000 4 years ago when I bought it) is a heck of a gun and almost shoots as well as my Kobra Carry.
Until you get to the $1500 "Baer range," the Kimber guns are a great value, IMO.Comment
