Short trigger is to decrease trigger reach, good option for people with smaller hands that has difficult to pull that first DA shot.
Short reset trigger (SRT) decrease SA trigger reset by 60%, they are two different things.
I don't have a big hand but it's big enough to reach standard trigger for my P226 and P228; I had a P226 came with short trigger once, end up replacing it with standard trigger because I don't like it as much.NRA certified RSO, Pistol/Rifle/Personal Protection Inside The Home instructor, Certified SIG/Glock pistol armorer.Comment

I'm rather curious about the short trigger myself. Does it do anything to reduce the length of the trigger pull?--Patch

the short trigger does make it easier to reach the trigger when it is in the DA position, but it tends to cramp the finger for many folks when they get to the rear of the SA travel...it's just too short for some folks and impacts trigger control...i had it on a Sig 226
the SRT is nice if you have the training to take advantage of the short reset. it's function doesn't change when you switch triggers. the change in reset/reach distance is constant...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

nope the travel is the same, the face of the trigger is just closer to the frameDoes it do anything to reduce the length of the trigger pull?...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

well think of it this way. the standard trigger is like .25" wide (front to back), IIrc. the short trigger is half that.
a family relative who's with a local PD claims this made a night and day on his carry 226/9mm.
i tried it and while i only shot a mags worth, i didnt feel any difference.
they have since transitioned to a 226/.40 with a DAK setup.leo d.Comment

many years ago i just had to get the short trigger for a P226. the reach for the standard trigger seemed a bit long, and the idea of a shorter reaching trigger figured to be a good one.
after installation of the short trigger i hurried down to the shooting range; it didn't work out for me. it felt like the ergonomics of gripping was changed and my trigger finger did feel cramped; my trigger finger quickly became red where it touches the trigger, and i could even feel a blister coming on about 100 rounds later. the short trigger reach was too short for me.
i replaced the short trigger with the original standard trigger in short order. the bottom line is this; if possible, try out a gun that already has the short trigger installed before investing the time and money in acquiring and installing one.Last edited by bsg; 08-18-2010, 12:16 AM.Comment
