    noobie needs advice on 1911

I just want to say hey to everone here on forum. I been read the forum for awhile now. You guys give great advice here. Thats why I'm here. I been going to the local range renting pistol to shoot and tiring out friends pistols. I handled xd, glocks, s&w mp, sigs and any I can get my hands on. The only one that felt comfortable and that I can shoot half way accurately were the 1911's.
Is there a decide 1911 that wont break the bank and that i can build up in future to what I like; once I put a couple thousand rounds thought it?

There are lots of options for you. Rock Island Armory makes a base model 1911 that you can find for as little as 399 I believe. It's a good quality gun, especially considering the price. Springfield Armory makes two basic 1911s. The GI which is about as basic as it gets, is a close copy on a ww2/korea/vietnam era 1911 and goes for about 599. Springfield's MilSpec has a few added features, like high profile sights, extended ejection port, but costs a bit more. Para makes a very good no nonsense GI expert 1911 that is a little more modern than the other three I mentioned. It will cost you around 5-600 if you look for good deals. Any are great choices.

I agree with these statements. If you are on a budget, these are solid choices. Or, maybe a used one from the Calguns For Sale section?

no get a sa loaded model will have almost everything you need lower ejection port dual safety , novac sight / coco bolo grips / beaver tail / one piece guide rod /front serration rear serration / get in p steel
not stainless steel / for some reason p steel hold there value better easier to sell not that you would
want to sell the pistol it steal at the price sa is selling it for .

also sodak gun shop will sell you one for 850.00 have it sent to your ffl dealer hopefully local shop they should charge you 100.00
handling fee including dros / no tax since you have already paid for it / got mine for total 850.00 +35 shipping +100 dros handling
from my ffl total of 985.00 killer price ( only thing is you have to find ffl dealer willing to charge only 100.00 most won't want to do
        it )

also a name brand top of the line gun can't beat that resale value resale value its in the name / like real estate location location
        location

        good luck

The SA Loaded line is indeed a good value as the guns already come with the most requested mods. In fact, to me, the only things some of them need are checkering under the trigger guard and those big barn door sized Wilson 428 adjustable sights.

That was my guess when I read it. The sad thing is that even if it was the transfer fee that is still insanely high. If you look you can find folks who will xfer for $40.

I'm not saying you didn't get a fair price. I'm just saying that the OTD price with some FFLs could have been up to $75 less. Maybe that amount of money isn't a big deal to you, and if not then cheers. Just tossing that out there. But yeah, if cost was really my number one concern (other than getting a decent 1911) like it seems to be with the OP, I wouldn't get the loaded.

just check on gunbroker there is loaded sa package used for 850.00 in upland califronia
for sale but i think you still have to pay 35.00 dros and tax used but fair deal store front gun shop so they have to charge 9.75 tax , but also all the extra you get on loaded pack
pretty good deal look at the difference between the two , mill vs loaded totally different
                      package

almost like getting standard 6 banger ford mustang vs 5.0 v8 ford mustang ?

                      best regards

RIA Tactical. $600-ish OTD at your local gun shop (retail price + tax + dros).

A 1911 is a lifetime investment and I recommend that you save up and get one that's how you want it right out of the box. One with a lifetime warranty. Avoid the basic "GI" style pistols for a first 1911. They're a nice niche model for those that want the look of an old GI 1911 and are willing to live with crappy sights and hit or miss accuracy because it's not their primary self defense or target pistol.

Start your search with a Springfield Armory Loaded or a Smith & Wesson SW1911. Both are backed by rock solid lifetime warranties, both have every option that you're likely to ever want, and both are dead reliable, and plenty accurate.
