Getting ready to order a Glock 21SF through Davidsons Gun Genie. See that there are different listings for sight availability (e.g. fixed sights and "steel" fixed sights). What's the scoop? Are the basic fixed sights made of plastic or some other non-steel material? Kind of surprised by this discovery.

GLOCK PISTOL SIGHTS??

Yeah, standard sights are polymer. It isn't really a bit issue unless you have your pet favorite type of sights, or just don't like the Glock sight set up. The polymer sights can get knocked around and damaged with heavy use, but I've seen Glocks so old and used up that almost all the Tennifer is gone, and the sights still do the job. A little battered, but clear as day to see. What do you mean my birth certificate expired? -
Hmmmmm.....interesting. What about the factory supplied night sights? Do you know if they are polymer or steel? Also, can you tell me if the front sight is dovetailed or staked?Last edited by GunDog; 08-15-2010, 6:22 PM.NRA Life Benefactor Member

Couldn't say. I don't own any Glocks that have night sights. I would imagine they are steel or something along those lines seeing as the Tritium would have to be protected by something. What do you mean my birth certificate expired?Comment

Those are cool for sure, but damn, I can't bring myself to put one on any of mine. I'm a fan of either stock, or close to stock, service pistols. That's just me though. What do you mean my birth certificate expired?Comment

Good choice. Really, it comes down to personal preference. The stock plastics stay on really well and work well, but I went with them because I was going to eventually replace them. Still have them on my Glock 20....until I get another set of XS's for it like my G19 has.

I have the XS Big Dots on my CCW Glock 30 and for me, they're just about perfect. Not a precise sight picture, but very fast to pick up. I figure since it's a carry piece that's what's important.
Is that correct? I was under the impression that all of the aftermarket steel front sights were attached the same way - a very flat small hex head screw from underneath.the glock night sights are actually mepro night sights and they are staked/Chris
I have a perfect Burning Man attendance record: zero.

I have the XS standard dots and they're quite precise ;-)

For my carry Glocks, I run Trijicons and for competition, Heines plain black, and a Trijicon RedDot on the open gunComment
