LaserMax for Glocks??? Any Good??

I'm not personally a big fan of either (I think people should know how to use their sights). But I've used both, on Glocks and other pistols; and they're about the same. The CrimsonTrace is more convenient as far as turning it on and off (pressure switch); but the reliability and accuracy of the laser beam itself seemed about the same with both.

Reasons to avoid Guide Rod Lasers
#1 Laser diodes don't like heat. The operating temp. is 120 degrees, and the storage temp is 140 degrees. Enough said.

#2 Guide rod rod lasers can't be adjusted. Even tiny movement each time you shoot will change the point of impact.

#3 The blinking beam only gives you a small part of the laser power you are paying for. It only peaks at max output for a fraction of a second. This is only to save the battery.

#4 The batteries are expensive, hard to find, difficult to install, and only power the laser for one hour of constant run time before you throw them away$$$

#5 You have to take your finger off the trigger to activate a guide rod laser. That split second could get you killed. It can turn on in your holster and you won't know it.

#6 If it breaks it can cause the gun to not operate.

#7 No lifetime warranty

#8 Can not be up-graded

#9 Muzzle blast will obscure laser window

+1 on what Slick_711 & Quiet said.
Use your sites first.
The only time I use a laser is when I'm practicing dry firing.
To see how steady and smooth I am through the whole trigger pull.

The amount you spend on a laser is better off spent taking handgun classes.

Who is to say he does not already know how to use his sights? I personally put lasers on my guns for a deterrent factor, in case I should ever need to use them for a defensive situation.

But in answer to the original question, I think the Lasermax is not the best choice. I have personally used both for Glocks and can tell you that they both have pros and cons. I have switched to just my TLR-2 for my Glock. Bu the rest of my firearms do have Crimson Trace grips.

I think everyone here is missing the bottom line when it comes to a firearm presentation, If you have presented your firearm in a defensive situation, and you havent used it by this point, you are in the wrong. A firearm isnt something to wave around and yell at someone and force them to do your biding, its a defensive tool.If you are going to pull it, you had best use it. If not, keep the firearm in your holster folks. You will find out the hard way and end up losing alot more than you think by trying to impress your friends with that shiny little red dot.
Firearms are not toys. Yes we have firearms that are used as recreation, and sporting, but they are not toys. This mindset is what gets people in trouble, and shows how little respect some people have for firearms. No matter how long you have been around them, as soon as you quit respecting them, you have grown complacent, and when complacency sets in, trust me, accidents will happen, and people will get hurt.

So by that logic, everytime law enforcement or anybody for that matter, draws their sidearm, they should shoot somebody? Am I missing your point, or are you just crazy?
