    you mean like this trigger?

it's nice looking. to each their own. lots of folks customize their guns just the way they like them, so don't let anyone tell you otherwise. i can't speak about the mechanical pull of a flat trigger, but if your finger pulls the same way for every shot, it will be just as consistent.

as for the 1911 being comfy in your hands if you only own subcompacts, rent one and shoot it a bit. you'll know for sure right away.

oh, and if you buy a 1911 and change the trigger, you have to post pix!

I used a Caspian Trik trigger on my last Springfield and it was a very sexy trigger. I prefer the long reach that some of the square triggers.

Regarding fit to your hand...the 1911 can be customized to fit by changinv parts and it's easy to do yourself.

So yes, get yourself a 1911 and have some fun!

Do you already have a 1911? If you do, it is SUPER easy to do yourself. Just buy that 10-8 trigger linked above, learn how to dissasemble your gun down to the bare parts, and it just drops in.

If you've never taken a gun down that far before, it is a great way to learn about your pistol and how it all works.

Below is a picture of my SW 1911 with the 10-8 trigger I installed. I did it just to see if there was any kind of noticiable difference. There isn't. I take taht back, it isn't that there is NO difference, it just isn't the kind of difference I expected. It is kind of like switching from a short trigger to a long trigger because it increases distance a bit. The other subtle difference is difficult to describe, but it is a bizarre feeling of it not mattering WHERE on the trigger your finger happens to be. With a curved trigger, without really noticing it, your finger wants to be on a certain point of the trigger. When the trigger is straight, it just doesn't matter. It is kind of weird. It isn't any better or worse than a curved one, but it is definitely different.
