Im not sure if these will work for proof of residency but I thought I would check here and see if anyone else is in, or has been in, the same predictament. I lease my condo and the lease was electronically signed by me and my landlord who lives overseas all which was overseen by a realator. Since it is not signed with signatures will it work? I know it doesnt have to be notarized. Also I have the electricity bill in my name but I do not recieve statements through the regular mail. I have to printout my statements from online which has my name and address listed. Would the online utility bill work if I run into problems with my lease? I cant use my registration because its registered to the company I work for. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Online prinout of your utility bill will work as long as it has your name, address, and a bill date.

Remember that all this depends on the gun store. I have used printed utility bills with no problem at some places, and other places just wont take it no matter what I say about what anyone else has done. You may be able to use some things to prove your residence, but it doesn't mean the gun store knows that you can. Car title works the best. What do you mean my birth certificate expired?Comment

If you drove your own car to the store, you're good to go; License and registration, all the ID and POR you need.
If you don't have registration, then call the gunstore and find out if they'll accept your printed utility bill. If you're willing to wait, you can also request a printed copy of your bill directly from the utility company.Originally posted by greasemonkey1911's instill fairy dust in the bullets, making them more deadly.Comment

+1 to this !! From the time I bought my 1st handgun in 2004 to 2010 getting my 1911 I forgot and when they asked for a utility bill i was like %#$%! since I am renting and don't have any utilities other than credit card, cell phone which don't work BUT car registration is golden.. It's in my glove box all the time and if you're vehicle is registered in your name you're good to go if you really don't have any utilities in your name. I can see some stores not accepting printed out bills because it's easy to print them to a PDF form (i have a program called cutepdf creator) which emulates a printer.. From there you can open photoshop and match the text and BS your address so I understand.. Car registration is about the only other way if you don't pay utilities.. Actually from what I remember my first gun in 2004 (i was 21) I had my grandmother I was living with at the time be my witness in a statement saying I didn't pay any utilities and had it notarized and that worked for me as well so that might be another option. At that time my vehicle wasn't in my name as well since my parents were paying it off and owned the title/registration..If you drove your own car to the store, you're good to go; License and registration, all the ID and POR you need.

I know I know kind of immature but at that time of just turning 21 I was living at home still and had nothing legit in my name so I had to find a work-around AND I believe this was suggested to me by the gun store when I went to purchase the firearm and had nothing for utilities, car reg in my name the guy said I could have a notary stating the case which is what I decided to do.
PS.. .If you decide on the notary way of doing it I would ask the gun store if they will accept it first before wasting the time to go have a witness and call up a notary to do this because if they won't accept that then I don't know.. The store this occurred in with me was a Turners in Norwalk,CA and that was back in 2004 so I assume it is a legit work around you may want to consider as a last resort.Comment
