You nailed it....RIA Tactical, I heard nothing but good from most (99%) of people that have them. I want one also.
I like the name......die heat die!The first duty of a man is the seeking after and the investigation of truth.

SA makes 1911s around that price range. You will be looking at the milspec or the GI for around that price. Maybe slightly more. What do you mean my birth certificate expired?Comment

Google is your friend. RIA owners have a pretty high opinion of them."He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."

Save up a few more dollars and buy a Springfield. You get what you pay for - I regret buying a RIA, it now serves as a dedicated .22LR as I wouldn't trust it as far as I could throw it.I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!Comment

My rock has been superb, would love to know what problems you have/had with yours.

I've shot the Springfield GI quite a bit and the RIA 1911. IMO, the RIA was smoother and shot better. The trigger especially felt smoother and much better over the GI. The only thing I didn't like as much as the GI was how it felt in my hand, where the RIA safety feels positioned a little low for me. But this can easily be replaced/fixed for next to nothing, and still makes the RIA a much better deal for me personally.Comment

granted the ria is a better deal for if you look at the specs, the tactical definitely has better sights than a gi. but the sa feels a little bit more solid when i shoot it. i have both.(\__/)
