Quick 1911 Question

When switching out the series 80 trigger actuated firing pin block and parts do you leave in the firing pin block plunger and plunger spring in the slide or remove it along with the lifter and the little dog leg that are housed in the frame? I have the shim replacement for the frame parts but no clue whether the plunger & spring stay or go. I'm using a series 70 firing pin also, so other than occupying that hole in the slide it serves no purpose, still, I don't want the part in there if it could cause a malfunction.

I'm not sure, because I have only one Series 80 and I've elected not to remove those parts. I would however suggest you do a lot of research - I've read a lot of stuff regarding the removal of the Series 80 parts and replacing with the shim. Some folks have had bad experiences. Something about the shim thing being designed for use when working on the pistol but not necessarily meant for shooting. Others say it's no problem.

Just out of curiosity - why do you want to remove the Series 80 system?

In short, there may only be one proper to do what you are trying to do, so be careful. Google is your friend.
