My S&W Conversion by David Clements

I bought a 1930s S&W .38-44 Heavy Duty a few years ago that had seen better days, these revolvers are N frames that were used for the 44 special.
The .38-44 was the father of the .357 magnum. They used the large frames to handle the pressure of the .38-44 round.
Since I already had several S&W .38/.357 magnums I decided the old girl needed a facelift and sent her off to David Clements a well known gunsmith of caliber conversions on Ruger single actions.
He not only changed the the caliber to .45 Colt, he installed one of his handmade adjustable sights. grips are by Keith Brown.
She shoots great and looks way better than before, she's a keeper.

        AWESOME!
I have thought about doing one of those conversions. Everyone that does them through either Clements or Bowen seem happy with the results.

Nice match up on the grips and rear sight, they look very much "period correct" in style and finish.

                  very nice...
I've talked to him about converting one of my ruger old model short frame guns...

                  on your Smith...
you might consider adding one of these for that old time look and vastly improved shootability...

Len & I both looked at this gun at the same time when we at the dealer. Len ending up buying it.

I wish he would have taken some "before" pictures. As usual, David did an outstanding job. He turned an old work horse into a family keepsake.

                    Beautiful gun.

                    Congrats Len!

                      Very nice.

I've been on the cusp of having Hamilton Bowen do a similar conversion (but to .44 Spl).

Love the Keith Brown grips. How long did it take to get them?
