    How to tighten loose front night sight on G17?

    Went shooting this weekend and all my shots were landing lower than POA, when it used to be POI=POA. I then noticed that my front factory Glock night sight (MH3) was loose.

    What is the best way for me to tighten the front sight? I've done a brief search and have heard recommendations of using locktite. Wouldn't just relying on a chemical bond eventually cause the front sight to become loose again?

    Use as 3/16" nut driver, and yes, low torque thread locker or Permatex # 2 sealant will keep it from backing out.

      The problem is that there is no nut. I believe that these are crimped on.

        So, I guess the question is, is it possible to recrimp the front sight and how?

          Glock has had three different front sight attachment methods over the years:
          -crimped, special tool recommended;
          -pinned, for lack of a better term, if the staking pin is still in the bottom of the sight, push it back in and see how that does;
          -hex screw, already mentioned, retighten with thread locker.

          Currently, I've been seeing all newer Glocks coming with a hex screw-on front sight. Try calling Glock to explain your problem, have your model and serial number ready, and see if they'll send you a new hex screw front sight for free. Otherwise, consider buying a new one.

          You'll find high-quality gun parts, gunsmithing tools, firearms, ammunition, reloading equipment, optics, and more!

          Brownells.com has one for $5.99, but the shipping might be just as much if you don't buy something else to make it worth it.

            If it is crimped you will need to re-crimp that base from the inside. I had a similar problem with my duty G21 and simply drove the OEM crimped front sight out and re-installed a bolted one.

              Does anyone local have access to the crimping tool?

                Just for peace of mind, I'd invest in a Heinie front night sight. IIRC, it comes w/ it's own installation tool--you just need to add a dab of red loctite. Stays on great.
