I am looking into buying my first 1911 .45acp and I was leaning twords a springfield G.I. but lately I have heard that RIA makes a 1911 of even higher quality and a better price can anyone shed some light on my dilema? The one thing I have noticed is that RIA makes most models with the extended beaver tails and tactical hammer for less than than the price of a standard springfield G.I. which of course has none of those options. Is that because its a cheaper quality gun or because when you buy a springfield your mostly buying the name? PLEASE some1 help me out....and for the record I dont want to spend 1k on a kimber so please dont suggest that its way out of my price range....thanks

First question is what are you going to do with the 1911?
If you just want to buy one that has some upgrades already then get the RIA. If you want a good base to start from and you want to customize later then get the GI. or better yet, get a SA 1911 Mil specOriginally posted by 69Mach1The virgin requires more work (don't they all
