    night sights front only

Just got back from the range:
I replaced my factory front sight on my 226, with a Meprolight front night sight.

I have always liked the Bar/Dot more than the 3 Dot system, and I have always found the factory standard sights easier to see than the night sights at the range (although Meprolight does have the better white outline than Trijicon).

Replacing only the front sight, seems to be the best compromise for me, to still maintain the Bar/Dot system, and being able to acquire my sights at the range, but still have something better for home defense in low light situations.

After going through 200 rounds today, I notice I still shoot the best with factory Bar/Dot. However, with the Meprolight front night sight only setup, I shoot much better than with the 3Dot front and rear night sights setup. I think I will stick with this setup for a while.

    Anyone else do the same?

Some people opt for a fiber optic front sight. It will collect ambient light and glow brighter in well lit conditions.

As for me, I prefer the 3 dot system. I didn't like shooting the bar-dot sights on any of my SIGs so I've swapped them all to night sights. Just my personal preference.

My preference towards Bar/Dot is probably because I first learned how to shoot with the Browning HP, and then I moved on to Sigs. I have a feeling had I started with the 3 Dot, my preference would be different now.

I just had 3-dot night sights put on my kimber and I love them. I have bar dot sights on my Sig and standard black iron sights on others. I think it depends on the person. Sounds like you found what works best for you, stick with it.
