SA Loaded's are great guns for the money.

      Springfield is good 1911 manufacture.
So I don't think you need to worry about to purchase one.

I have one and love it. It's a great place to start with 1911's.

it's a beautiful gun fur-shur. just wondering about the performance compared to something else comparable in price.
i've heard mention of kimber but know nothing about them, or any other 1911 manufacturer.

The Kimber vs. Springfield and once in a while vs. S&W debate comes up almost every other week. It all comes down to preference really.

Read through this thread from last week: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=320221

Here is a post that I thought was a fair comparison:

The reason is accuracy, trigger pull, reliability, fit & finish, and the lifetime warranty. It's also made in the USA. They do use a Swartz safety system which bothers some people but the design they use is just about bullet proof.

My second choice would be a the Springfield Armory Loaded. A nice well made if a bit rough around the edges pistol. The triggers tend to be a bit heavy but that's fixable and the fit & finish could be a tad better but they are dead reliable a come with a lifetime warranty.

Both S&W and SA have a reputation for the best customer service and warranty service in the business.

My last choice of the three is Kimber. Kimber makes a pretty pistol with a tight slide to frame fit. They are almost too tight and need 200-300 rounds to loosen up the fit and the extractor before they become reliable. Kimber will not support them before the break-in is complete and limits warranty service to one year. They also come with a Swartz safety system - but unlike the S&W design Kimber's is very delicate and easy to damage. So delicate that it's not covered under the one year warranty. The only time that I buy Kimbers is when I can't find what I want from another manufacturer.

ETA: Dug up several more Kimber vs. Springfield Armory threads from the past, in case you wanted to read more into that debate.

Lifetime warranty >limited 1 year warranty

Go with SA. You will not be dissapointed.

I vote for the SA Loaded as well. I own a Parkerized Loaded and shoot it every week. I hear SA customer service if fantastic but I've never used them. Mine shoot factory ammo very reliably. When I changed to my HP reloads I did further polish the ramp, and barrel throat. That was it. It runs like a champ and very accurate.
