    Sig P6 shooting really low

I've always had this issue with this gun but it finally annoyed me enough to do something about it.

I shoot extremely low with my P6. About a foot at 25 yards low. Even bench supported I have this issue.

I was looking through this thread

and it seems like there are a bunch of different height sights you can use. Could I just have a weird combination of sights? Is there any way to tell which sights I have? They're just black on black, no dots or anything.

Any ideas would be appreciated, it spends too much time in the safe because of this issue.

There is a possibility that your sights are a little off if the QA department missed a few faulty sights at the factory. More than likely though that is just how yours shoots. My SA 1911 GI hits low and to the left. I could tap out the sights and adjust them a bit, but eh, they are pistols, and I'm not using them for target shooting. If it's something you can't live with take it to a gunsmith who can give you a different front sight post or shave off some from the one you already have and refinish it.

My SIG has been shooting low, too. Not as bad as yours, thought. I had to basically cover my target with my front sight, obliterating my view, in order to get it on target. I was going to file my rear sight base but I decided to try to fix my shooting style instead. It's the shooter, most likely. The SIG was always accurate so it must be me.

Other options, change out the sights to adjustable or adjustable tritium.

When you're bench supported are you using sandbags or other items to wedge the gun or are you just resting your hands? Try sandbags or a pistol rest.

I didn't use sandbags I was just firmly rested on the bench. I know it's not the best solution but it should still give me a decent baseline.

I was thinking it was my shooting style but after trying a bunch of different things it's still really low. Also, even though it's apples to oranges, I'm right on target with my 1911 so I don't think I have a big flinch or something like that that I need to fix.

Do you know how to tell which # sights you have? I have to cover the target with right below the sights (basically the barrel) which is a pain.

Sounds like it could possibly be the wrong front sight. You can slowly file the front sight down until you achieve acceptable elevation then either touch it up to prevent rust or remove and measure it then buy one of appropriate height.

Some pistols sights POI are at six o'clock but 1 foot is stretching it.

You would want to file the front sight. Filing down the rear sight would make you hit lower.

Could this be due to a damaged crown? How low does it shoot at 7-10 yards?

CDNN has #10 Sig sights on sale right now, each number higher will raise the point of impact 2" at 25 yards, so you would in fact come up 6" just changing the rear to #10.. Each number higher in the front will raise the POI 1" on Sig P series pistols.. Make sure your using the Sig Combat hold sight picture (front dot covers target point) Have Fun, Jim
