    Barrel length

    Hello,

New member here, figured since I'm in old CA I might as well finally sign up. Been shooting for a while, but since I do live in a *slightly* restrictive state I thought I'd try and keep up on what I can (and more likely than not) cannot do with my firearms.

Fisrt question I have, I was thinking of converting my f/s USP into a match, with the weight and barrel, eventually the trigger. I just am unsure if adding an extended match barrel is a no no. I know a threaded is no go, just not sure of the length and CA law.

    I think it's okay.
Actually created in 1999 (the original posts from the first database were lost), we are a forum dedicated to and laser-focused on Heckler & Koch firearms, Heckler & Koch accessories and the owners and enthusiasts that love them! Come join the discussion regarding HK pistols, long arms, NFA arms...

Extended barrel is fine. You can own a threaded barrel but it cannot be in a working pistol while in side the Cali border.

Can you have a threaded rifle barrel?

I know this is off the topic, but since this came up, does that mean I CAN put the Walther factory thread adaptor and muzzle break on my G22?

Rifles CAN have threaded barrels in CA (just gotta keep min length to 16").

Semiauto pistols CAN'T have threaded bbls in CA.

There is no crime in changing features on a handgun - caliber change, action style (single to double action or vice versa), barrel length, or removal of any of various "safeties" (mag disconnector, etc.) are all legal. Just don't have a threaded barrel or a smoothbore barrel, and don't chamber a shotgun shell in a handgun.
