I think there's a very good possibility it might go extinct.
Even now, not that many handgun makers are making a model chamber for it (H&K, Sig, Springfiled, Smith & Wesson etc).
Not saying it's a bad round just not popular at all and popularity makes money.

Turner's liquidated their inventory of .45GAP Glocks two years ago. It was during the same time they liquidated their .357SIG and 10x25mm Glocks.

The new owners of Turner's bought more .45GAP Glocks when they took over.

As long as law enforcement or military or governement use & support a particular cartridge, that cartridge will continue on.
Currently, over the last 3-4 years, five state law enforcement agencies (GA, SC, NY, PA & FL) have adopted the .45GAP.
The .45GAP was introduced in 2003 and every year, people say it's going to die out. But every year a new LE agency adopts it.

However, it hasn't caught up any more than those markets. Agencies have budget and support from Glock(very competitive pricing for .45GAP Glocks) while average Joe doesn't. I doubt it will get a significant share of the market when other calibers and designs are available. S&W M&P came out in 2005 and got more shares than GAP.

For average Joe, GAP is a headache when it comes to finding ammo.

45gap is trying to solve the problem that 40sw already solved. more stopping power than a 9mm and holds more rounds than a 45acp. if you reload and can get a bunch of brass, it is a good value. i have seen great deals in the marketplace here for used ones.

I think a lot of people see it like hickok45, from youtube, does. He said that he just isn't interested in another .45 round. As someone who owns several .45s I can say that ammo is expensive enough. I don't feel the need to add another set of variables when I can shoot the same ammo out of most of my guns already.
