    ruger LCP

I got a chance to handle this at shot and again at a gun store in bullhead, and I really like the idea of such a light concealable package.

Do you think the roster will be lifted any time soon, should I start figuring out how to get this into the state, or should I look for a substitute gun or simply hope and wait?

If you really want one you can pick them up in the for sale forums once in a while, but you will have to pay for it. I have one, and it is great for pocket carry when you are dressing light. To be honest it is not much harder to carry a glock 26 and then you have more firepower. The LCP would not be an easy gun to hit your target with under stress, I will say that.

concealable eh? ...do you have a CCW? hmmm...

a few of my LE partners have it, and like it.. it's a light gun but the polymer feel is something they are never comfortable with.

I don't prefer it by any means.

I know a couple of people that have them. One is pocket gun, the other a purse gun.

I have never shot them, but if I was putting my life on the line, I would prefer 9mm minimum.

G26 does not slide into your pocket as easily and with a small enough print as a true pocket pistol does (LCP, Keltec P32, Keltec P3AT). I have both the G26 and the LCP and the P32. I tried to pocket carry the G26 with great disappointment. Just wouldn't fit, not without huge pockets, and the butt of the pistol still poked out. The LCP and P32 disappear into the front pocket and nobody is the wiser to it.
Under stress, you could say the same about any pistol....unless you train.

Had a LCP and I really liked it. But I got lazy and most of the time it was the only handgun I would carry. Its not a range gun that you can use to plink with a weekly basis. It is for up close and personal as a BUG. In addition its only a .380. I sold it and bought a G26. Now I just adjust what I wear to conceal the Glock. Not saying to buy a G26,just think real hard if the LCP is for you. Good luck in your search.

I looked at the Kahr PM9 and it looked pretty compact, even more than the G26?
Seems like the smallest 9mm+ pistol I've seen.

I held a Ruger LCP before and I wasn't impressed. Felt too small to handle well and that coupled with .380 ammo didn't spark my interest for the best option for concealed carry. It may be tiny but there are other options that I think are better.

My favorite CCW gun is the S&W 442 revolver. It conceals in the pocket of just about any pants or shorts, has smooth contours, is absolutely reliable and is very accurate, even emptying the cylinder as fast as I can. It may only carry 5 rounds of .38 +P, but I would imagine it would be pretty effective if someone got 5 of those to the chest.

I would also take a Glock 26 any day over an LCP. It holds 11 rounds of 9mm in a very small package. If it doesn't fit in the pocket good, who cares? Wear it inside the waistband instead.

Both of these guns would probably cost the same in California as buying an LCP.

Maybe he's carrying in his home or private property. Or he's a lucky California civ that has a permit.

Anyway, for me personally, a .380 is just too small of a caliber for me to feel comfortable defending my life with. I don't deny that it would still put the hurting on someone, but when you're facing three strong assailants that are 6'0"-6'3" and 200+lbs (which COULD happen to anyone), a .380 and the LCP doesn't give me much confidence. Could be a good option if you are going jogging though.

I agree, the G26 is not a pocket gun. But in a IWB holster, it is pretty easy to conceal. I have both, and I would not talk someone out of getting the LCP. I would say get both. Under stress I feel a lot more confident that I would hit my target with the G26 but YMMV.

I can hit what I'm aiming for better with the LCP than I could with a J Frame. Getting the finger extension for the magazine makes it a lot easier to keep a grip on too without making it much harder to pocket.

I have one and was surprised by how well I can shoot it. I don't shoot handguns a lot and the first time out I was able to keep them all in the black (6") at 7yd, with loosely aimed rapid fire. Disclaimer - I suck at shooting pistols. I had a P3AT before and couldn't shoot it well at all. Also have to second how nicely they just disappear in your front pocket.

Shot the LCP, still prefer the Kahr PM9 with CTC.

you know, that's so funny the first post is " OH ILLEGAL OHHHHH TEACHER!"

listen my friend, I pack concealed many weekends. I sure do have a license too, just expired 6-31-10 and will be renewing this week. Its called a CA hunting license and I varmint hunt a decent amount. toying with the idea of a lighter setup, currently pack a sig p6 and sometimes a star .40, both are heavy setups.

I can see how a small very light setup is awkward to shoot. I'm going to need to try it out, seems fun just playing with it, but I know how .380 can be even out of a heavier gun (PPK for example.)

to top it off, even if I had a CCW and wanted to carry it, it would not be approved, so that would be out the window for a daily carry.
