    Cleaning a semi-auto...

I usually clean the breech face by scrubbing it with a nylon brush with some solvent. However, a firearms instructor recently advised me to not use any solvent/lubricant on the breech face (to avoid attracting particles). He said to just merely wipe the face off with a clean cloth.

So which is the proper way? How do you guys clean your breech face area?

As long as the breech face is pointed down while you brush, then you're good to go.

You cannot help getting brass or other gunk inside the firing pin tunnel, that's what detail strip cleaning is for.

Your firearm instructor has a right for his opinion as me.
