Glock - Tungsten Guide rod

When I put this new guide rod in my G-22 it would get through a round or two then not feed the next round. The next round would be halfway out the clip with the slid stuck about dead center on the top of the brass. Any ideas? Is the spring on the new quide rod too strong? I put the stock guide rod back in and never have a FTF or any probs period. Kinda frustrated that I have this $50 part that I cant have in the pistol because of reliability issues.

I suggest putting in the new spring then keep the slide open for a few days. The Glock original design is RELIABLE no need to upgrade or do anything else. If you want to keep trying, try different ammo.

Constant compression does little to nothing to weaken a spring. It's the repeated compressions that cause the spring to weaken with usage. Keeping the slide locked back isn't going to do much, if anything...

This is a good solution. Try a 15# spring if you're sure you currently have the correct spring in it now..

I think it (tungsten rod) doesn't melt if you shoot 1000 rounds continuously without stopping.

Wouldn't tungsten also add some weight to the nose of the gun?

I'm sure it being made of Tungsten has little to do with the issue.

I got a SS guide rod for piece of mind. I figured a steel guide rod is better than plastic and its cheap insurance. Will I have ever needed to replace the plastic guide rod, I don't know. But I have to feel that the SS would be a bit more durable than the plastic one.

I wouldn't cut any links off the spring. Buy a new spring, you never know what you may need down the road. I would prefer not to run rigged items on my firearms!

Who knows. But if they have a hard time doing it with plastic, steel is gonna outlast plastic by far. You have to ask yourself why not. I think $20 is worth it.

Why not? Not necessary. Also, it disqualifies you from the production/service pistol class in competitive events like IDPA.

A lot of things in life are "not necessary". I still haven't heard any negatives to using SS over plastic. And IMHO "weight" isnt an issue.

If I ever decide to shot IDPA, ill swap it with the plastic one.

I have a SS rod that works flawlessly in my G19 and G23. Half the price of the Tungsten rod. The polymer rod just bugs me even though I have had no problems with it. I just don't have to worry about my rod ever breaking.
