Dan Wesson Guardian! Does it have rostered competition?

So does this beautiful firearm have rostered competition in the form of another 1911 in the same size in the same 9mm caliber or do I need to move out of state?

    1. Buy a 16" 45ACP barrel from GunParts, Inc.
      .
    2. Cut/crown it to some length shorter than 16" (to avoid long gun vs pistol drama)
but leave it long enough so it is a min 6" long AND min. pistol overall length of 10.5"
      (measured parallel to bore line).

I think it's also nice to damage the feedramp, solder or epoxy something on it, etc.,
so it clearly looks like it can't feed ammo.

Also acquire a "blue gun" 1911 training magazine and any necessary hardware to
lock it down (i.e., replace the mag catch with a screw etc.) .
      .
    3. Supply this long barrel and other parts to a cooperating manufacturing FFL outside CA.
Find a cooperating FFL in CA to accept delivery (there are ones here, like Riflegear or
      PRKArms, etc.)
      .
    4. Have the non-CA mfg FFL install the above parts such that the gun becomes a 12133PC-
exempt dimensionally-compliant single-shot pistol with zero magazine capacity (i.e, must
load into the barrel port.) The gun must be rendered into this Roster-exempt form before
it crosses into California - the CA FFL must NOT do this. This FFL ships the OEM barrel to
      back to you.
      .
    5. Once the single-shot pistol is DROSed to you and you pick it up after 10 day wait, you are
free to reconfigure it into any other legal combo.

Closest thing to it I can think of is the DW CBOB - stainless steel version. You'd have to be willing to pay about $1,700.00 for an "about $1,100.00 gun" though. Considering the "single shot" rote can be used over & over perhaps that's the way to go and get what you want.

Thanks BWEISE, I am going to look into that if I have no choice. Right now that seems like quite an ordeal to undergo.

Man I just want that gun so bad.

I think maybe you guys don't know but the Guardian is a 9mm commander bobtail, not a 45.

Now, as far as the original DW CBOB, the weapon was HIGHLY undervalued at $1100, an AFAIC HIGHLY overpriced at $1750...

With that said, I have seen the new DW CBOB final run being sold at the $1450-1550 mark, which IMHO is not TOO bad...

HOWEVER, the Guardian is priced at !!YIKES!! $1530!!!!!

Now, call my crazy, but for $1500 I'd rather have a CBOB or for a few bux more (ok, more than a FEW...) a VBOB.

We in CA have the CBOB or PM-7 only (for now).

That above gun is the GBOB (9mm, alloy frame for lighter weight). I want one too!

If you have a Mom/Dad/Grandparent out of state, you could get one via intra-family transfer.

It might be easier to move your parents out of state and have them intra-familiar ppt transfer an off list gun to you.

slightly hijack/off topic: Does a long lost (out-of-state) biological parent count in this regard?
