    PSD!

NEWB question. I was curious to know how is the PSD is legal in cali? Is it considered a pistol even though it uses 5.56 ammo? The one i'm looking at has "no standard buffer tube and stock have been replaced with a shortened recoil system". This would be cool to have but it's a lwrci and paying over 2k is not an option. Unless I can find a cheaper version.

So, if i moved a legal state where you can have short barrel rifles could the butt stock and buffer tube be added on or is this a permanent conversion?

        Not permanent.
If you move to a state that signs off on SBR's. You can covert it later.

        IF:
You get a CLEO sign off or set up a trust...ect..
        Fill out the BATF forms...
        Pay the $200 tax stamp....
        Engrave your lower....
        Wait.....and wait.......wait some more...
        and get approved....

Then you can put a butt stock on it.

(hypothetically) if I were to buy a short barreled upper would it be illegal to have? As long it's not attached to a lower?
I didn't realize where other states allow shorter barreled upper that you have to go through all that to get approved.

It would be illegal to have, if you also own/possess a complete non-pistol and/or non-SBR AR lower reciever.
It would be legal to have, if you did not own/possess a complete AR lower receiver or is you own a complete pistol and/or SBR AR lower reciever.
There are constructive possession laws for SBR/SBS.

AOW, DD, MG, NS, SBR & SBS are Title 2 firearms.
Title 2 firearms require BATFE approval prior to ownership.
