    Custom 1911 Grips

So I just graduated from college and my parents bought me a parkarized SA Loaded for my graduation present. I wanted to get a set of 1911 grips customized with the logo of my college and the year. I was wondering if anyone has had custom grips made, who made them, and what your experiences were. Any input is appreciated.

    Thanks!

If you're looking for flashy, Ryan over at thefinergrain.com will do custom jobs and he's very good and a great guy too. I have a set of his grips and they're outstanding.

Are your parents looking to adopt?

If you have any interest in aluminum or polymer grips, check out: http://www.gungrips.net/index.htm

They can laser etch a logo if you can get your hands on a reasonably high resolution image.

Anyway, you think they'd be interested in adopting?

Give the folks at Custom Killer Grips a call. They are in Northern California and they specialize in 1911 grips. I met group of shooters at the Livermore Pleasanton Rod and Gun Club shooting range and I saw some beautiful grips on their 1911s, I commented on them and they told me that they made them. From the ones I saw on the shooting bench, they do good work.

I'd talk to them at thefinergrain.com.

I believe they do some custom laser engraving. Shoot them an email and ask. I would choose a grip style you like and get that engraved or something

Not just flashy, but I've been pleased with all of the grips I've gotten from him. The wood he uses is simply stunning.

Flashy is the wrong word. Exotic maybe. Sarge does awesome work and I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for high quality grips.
