    new glock 17 owner here

I am so excited i could not keep it to myself i just got back from buying a new glock 17 olive drab this will be my first glock got it for $530 total i hope that was a good deal it was an impulse buy.
I always scoffed at glock but i was in the shop and accually looked one over and fell in love .

this is also my first 9mm is it worth reloading 9mm sense glocks should not be used to cheap lead bullets? I reload for 45acp and 40s&w so i would just need to buy some dies .but a couple friends told me 9mm is not really worth reloading for sense i can get federal red box 9mm for $8.50 a box at walmart where i work .

This is gonna be a long 10 days lol i hope it shoots as well as it looks and feels

✟ In the beginning was the 1911, and the 1911 was THE pistol, and it was good. And behold the Lord said, "Thou shalt not muck with my disciple John's design for it is good and it workith. For John made the 1911, and lo all of his weapons, from the designs which I, the Lord, gave him upon the mountain."✟

Congrats on your purchase, you will be very happy.

I think 9mm is worth reloading - I do it. I would not shoot lead routinely through your G17's stock barrel. The polygonal rifling tends to lead up faster than conventional rifling, and you'll end up with dangerously high pressures from the lead build up. If you want to shoot lead, buy an aftermarket conventionally rifled barrel and you'll be fine.

If you reload, I'm thinking you can cut the cost of that $8.50 box in half, at least. This means you can either shoot for half price, or shoot 2x as much for the same price as factory ammo.

Glock 17 OD is an excellent choice. At first I never had much interest in 9mm but after getting a G19 I would have to say I really like 9mm and love 9mm Glocks.
