In addition to smallest I would also look for weight. Alot of the 3" 1911s listed are alloy framed and that helps quite a bit.

The AMT is, I think, about the smallest but of course not on the roster. And it is all steel. I like Detonics (again, not on the list) because it has a short grip - shorter than the typical 3" 1911s. The Warthog/P10 is even shorter but of course it's a double stack and wide as hell.

I'm kind of hoping someone comes out with a single stack, 3" barrelled alloy framed 1911 with the Detonics sized grip. A 3" barrelled 24 oz 45 that's only about 4" top to bottom would be quite the gun.

I like my Glock 36. It is pretty light and the recoil is not bad considering how light it is. Double taps are not a problem at all for me. I carry mine every day since it is my primary ccw gun. I am thin, 5'10" and 135lbs and it dissapears on me.
