I have about 1500 rounds of .45 and my gorgeous STI Lawman rarely makes it out nowadays because it is painful to feed the thing. I have this thing in my head that keeps reminding me that every time I shoot 1 magazine(8 rounds) , it is $3.20......i've been shooting my .22 and 9mm more and more.

I stocked up on 9mm for 20cents a round and I am quite glad I did so. Wish I had the foresight to get some .45 as well, but I don't have a .45 yet so I guess it's a moot point.

In preparation for 2/2011 Will the ammo be good if I store in a semi-air tight container with desiccant for 2 years? 5 years? 10years???

Was thinking of stock piling some. Such a hassle to go through paper work every time I need to buy ammo. Plus no more savings from online vendors. Arrhhh.....I really hate Kalifornia.

I picked up 250 rounds of Load-X 230 grain TMJ today for $18.50 per 50. They are local to me, but they ship all over.

I was bummed that they had no .38 Special, but they're going to call me when they make a batch.

No correction needed. CA. ammo retailers are going to pick up some good profits from people who used to buy large quantities of handgun ammo exclusively from out of state merchants by mail.
My prediction is many FFLs will start taking special orders for those that buy large quantities - but your guess is as good as mine as for pricing.
Time to get to know your local ammo supplier.

Big 5 has the practice ammo for around $23 a box of 50.

With this new ban in 2011, what's to stop me from going to Nevada or Arizona and buying my ammo, especially if I"m already going to be in the State for other reasons.

It may only cost 3.20$ but finding the ammo and replacing it is what's hard
Whenever I see federal 45 ammo I pick up a few boxes at a time

If this is non-Walmart prices, $20-25 a box of 50 is the going rate.

If you find some at Walmart, the WWB 100rd box is $33 and the federal 50rd box is $16
