    G19 slide conversion

Is it possible to replace a G19 slide with a G23 slide and shoot .40 cal through the same lower? I have read several posts where the opposite is stated. I searched the LoneWolf site and found slides that converted G23 to 9mm but nothing for G19 to .40. Any help is appreciated.

I'm not sure if you can put a comlete G23 slide on a G19 and have it work well or not. The ejector is different on each receiver. I put a G19 slide on my G23 but it didn't seem to function smoothly by hand racking it so I didn't try shooting it that way. I have however put a G19 slide on a G23 frame with G19 mags (without switching the ejector) and it worked well with the exception of one stovepipe jam out of 50 rounds.

You can put a 40 to 9mm conversion barrel on a G23 but cannot put a G23 barrel in a G19 slide because the diameter of the barrel is too large. You should not use a factory G19 barrel in a G23 because it is narrower in diameter than the .40 barrel. For that you should use a .40 to 9mm conversion barrel because the outside diameter is the same as a regular .40 barrel. I have had good luck with a 40 to 9mm conversion barrel for my G27 using G26 mags.

EDIT: today I put a G19 slide on my G23 frame and put a G19 mag in it. I don't know what the problem was last time, but this time the slide felt fine and I hand racked 5 rounds through it no problem. I think it will work just fine with either slide/frame combo and appropriate magazine for the caliber. For flawless function you should switch the ejector though.

It's possible if you have a complete G23 slide switch out the 9mil ejector to .40s&w ejector. Use .40 cal mags for better results.

Thanks for the insight. I'll let you know how it goes when I try.
