    Which 1911? Sig Vs. Kimber

Need help deciding for my first 1911. This will be a carry gun. Narrowed my choices down to two.

    Sig 1911 "Carry" in Nitron : http://www.sigsauer.com/Products/Sho...&productid=131

    Kimber Pro Carry: http://www.kimberamerica.com/product.../pro_carry_II/

I dont want the Kimber Ultra carry, its too small. Please keep comments to these two pistols. Thanks.

I have a Kimber and love it, they make great guns. I don't know anything about the Sig. But even if I didn't have a Kimber I would still go with it just because they have been making 1911's much longer.

My GTG is my CDP Pro II. That should tell you where I stand. Kimber has excellent customer service and makes a great product too. After +20,000 rounds through my first CDP II, I had to send it back to Kimber with a list of things which needed fixing. (I had spoken to Winslow at SHOT '08 about the gun and he wanted to see it) Anyway, I got it back a week or so later with everything fixed. They even replaced my night sights because, they felt it was time to replace them. I did not even mention my NSs. This was all done at ZERO cost to me except for shipping it to them. I really doubt that Sig's or any other larger company's customer service can compare.

I have a Sig GSR 1911 I bought it because for the price about 850 it was a very good deal when I bought it I was looking at some kimbers and springfields. At the time the salesman said Kimber had some QC problems and that the springfields had some MIM parts.

True 1911 fans though don't like the fact that the Sig has an external extractor. Anyways I've fired tons of Quality defensive loads, range ammo, and reloads through the Sig about 4000k plus rounds with no FTF or eject.

I have no experience with Kimbers and don't even know if the salesman was telling the truth about the QC problems but I would trust my life with the Sig GSR anyday.

Both good guns. The Sig I think is a better buy. Only problem is finding a holster for the Sig. It seems the contour of the Sig slide prevents it from fitting into regular 1911 holsters.

Yep, he hasn't even broke it in enough to wear out a recoil spring yet. Somewhere after 50,000 rounds is when a gun should start to prove its durability.

Hehe, 4000K rounds equals 4 million rounds. I'd be estatic if my guns lasted that long.

I personally didn't like the Sig's grip safety. That shape with the ridge running down the back was intensely uncomfortable for me to hold.

I have both. And a Springfield. And a couple of Colts. Did I mention I like 1911's?

                            80,000 boxes (50 rounds a box)
                            @ $20/box (if possible)
                            =$1,600,000

I wish I could afford to shoot that many rounds.
A gun in your hand is better than a cop on the phone.

BTW, when did the bar get set so low?
