Colt Agent

On the usual "SF to Sac Gun Run" - which this time went to Rocklin, a bit further - I saw a new, as in "being sold by FFL from FFL stock", a Colt Agent 1911 type. Marked as new, displayed with all their other new stock. Definitely not a private party sale or an "as new" consignment. According to the salesman it's new, part of their stock. Not a small one man store either.

Checked the DOJ list under Colt, see nothing to indicate Agent is on there but there are alot of model number only listings so I'm not sure. Did I miss something? Or does this thing get on as the blued version of a Defender which it's similar to but not the same.

It's not the same as the Defender...you may have noticed it doesn't have sights. There is also a DAO only model, IIRC. Lastly, they do sell a gun called the Colt New Agent. Could that have been the "New" part of the tag?

I have the Defender so yes, the Agent is different & has the trough sight and a few other minor differences. Both SA only though. I guess I should have called it by its complete name, it is the "New Agent" but my misreading it isn't the case. The store has two very separate sections for new and used - this was in with the new and the fellow I spoke with said it was a brand new gun. I don't want to bet my life they use different tags for new or used as opposed to checking off one of two boxes - I think they use a grey tag with "new" or "used" and put a red circle on used. Price was $1,049.00.
