    Beretta Model 87

Been wanting one of these for awhile. See where they're now in stock at Bud's Gun Shop so I ordered one. They're kinda pricey but seem to be well made and highly sought after. Comments?

I'm not much on Berettas, but I've heard that one of their 22 semi target pistols is great while the other is just OK and has only a middling quality trigger - not sure which is which, if the 87 is the good or the "just OK". Maybe someone else has specifics?

Got the Beretta 87 mainly cause I like the size and looks of it. Also, it's a double action. Had a Walter PP in .22 LR that I regrettably sold....good luck trying to find one of those. I already have a S&W Model 41 for precision target work and a Ruger MK III for general purpose plinking.

Congrats on the 87! I have an 87 Target. It's got a longer barrel and sight radius than Cheetah, with barrel and shroud+sights set up as a single block so the sights don't move relative to the barrel. It's SA only. Even pricier than 87 Cheetah, goes for a little under $900 these days. Wanted to get wood grips for it, but Beretta keeps showing them out of stock. Very happy with it, works like clockwork with any ammo I feed into it. Had maybe 3-4 stovepipes in 9000 rounds.

Like you, loved the looks and the solid quality feel enough to ignore the price and the less than ideal trigger. The .22 target Beretta with a good trigger is 89, but they are no longer making it. But if you are into shooting half-inch groups offhand at 25 yards you are better off with a Hammerli or something anyway. I'm not, and I like that the gun is precise enough to show my mistakes instead of its own limitations, and the whole setup still grips like a real street pistol.

I really like the look of the cheetah series. I'm thinking of getting an 85 series.

I have the 87 Cheetah. It is a pricy little gun. It's also not a target pistol due its short barrel length.

However, it is sexy, fun to shoot (plinking vs. bullseye shooting) and people really have fun shooting it.

If I want to put holes close together, I normally grab for my Ruger MkII 5.5 bull bbl.

            Enjoy!

I love my 87 Cheetah. It has been reliable with everything I've fed it, from target loads to Stingers. My neighbor liked it so much, he bought the target model, and we switched grips (he likes wood and I wanted mine to look like my 92).
Yes it is pricey, but you won't be disappointed.
