    Can't choose...45 ACP

Well all...I've narrowed my search down to the Glock 36 Slimline and the Springfield Armory XD 45. I really wanted the .45 ACP in a compact Glock, but they don't make the model. The G36 Slimline seems to fit the bill. I don't really want the .45 GAP or the Glock 38 would be perfect. After looking around more, I found the XD 45 seemed to meet my wants. I'm having a hard time deciding which one I would want the most. I kind of want to get a Glock in compact for 9mm/.40/.45. If I get the XD then that would spoil my collection.

Anyway, I guess what I'm really asking is if the G36 or the XD45 is better. I'm probably gonna entertain the thought of just getting the G38 .45 GAP, even though for no particular reason, I don't want one.

    Thanks,
    JL

    decisions, desicions

If you want a G19/23 sized 45 try looking at Glock 30(doublestack) or the XD compact 45. The 36 is more of a subcompact, really. The G30 is Thick. The XD is thinner and points well but if your used to Glocks the trigger may feel "funny" to you and you might sense more "flip". The XD compact holds 10 and so does the G30.

I have never even seen a G36 or heard of it before now. I want to hold one.

Spend a few bucks more and get the HK USP Compact .45. It will be eating everything you run through it until you're old and gray.

I like my G36 a lot. It is a subcompact, slim and easy to carry. I'm guessing the XD45 compact will be very thick. I added the Pearce +1 to one of my G36 mags so I can have a longer grip and total of 8 rnds of .45acp. I think with the Pearce grip, the size is more similar to the G19/23.

I haven't even held an XD 45 yet so that's probably what I have to do to really get a feel for which I would prefer. The only reason I didn't really want the G30 is because it is too thick. My hand felt fine holding it, but really prefer the SUBcompact feel of the G36. I don't really like the 6+1 capacity though.

I think either gun will do you well by the one you like most. I prefer the XD's. One thing I would stay away from is the GAP cartridge because there is no real benefit that you can't get in a different gun. I personally think that GAP will die out in a few years. Just my opinion.

I was in the same boat when deciding if I wanted the G30 or the G36. With the G30, there is the 10+1 capacity and the light rail but the thing didn't fit right in my hand. It was just too thick and I believe the XD45 will be the same though I can't really say because I lack any experience with it. The G36 fit much better and I figured if it were to be used as a CCW, the 6+1 capacity would be fine and would be much lighter than carrying 10+1 rounds. I also didn't see any reason for a the light rail except for the cool factor or if it doubles as a home defense weapon. If you really think you will need more than 7 rnds of .45acp in a situation, you could carry the extra mag.

Ended up wanting the G36 more and didn't even had to buy one because the gf got it for me as a present.

I just bought a G36 a month ago. I gotta say it's one fantastic gun. it ran perfectly with FMJ, Corbon, Federal Hydrashok, Double Tap ammo. It fits my hand great and it's really accurate, almost as accurate as my full size 1911.

it's a personal opinion but I never thought I would see a gun that was uglier than a GLock, I was proven wrong when the compact XDs came out....

I'm waiting fort he G21SF to come out. We might not be able to get the gun but we will have 10 round single stack magazines to use with the G36.

If you perfer the subcompact feel, go with a Glock Model 36.

The Springfield XD-45 Compact has almost the same grip width as the Glock Model 30.

Hate to rain on your parade, but the Glock Model 21SF is not single stacked. It's double stacked, takes the same mags as the normal Model 21 with a slight modification, but has a "slimmer grip".

I really hoped it was a single stacked .45 ACP
