Ive always wanted to know what kind of 1911s they are
I wanted to invent an engine that could run for ever. I could have developed a new train, had I stayed in the railway. It would have looked like the AK-47 though. MIKHAIL KALASHNIKOV

      That should tell you.

      EDIT:
This particular section is about the 1911s he uses.

Castor Troy's (Nicolas Cage) weapons of choice are two gold titanium nitride plated Springfield Armory M1911-A1 V-10s fitted with custom gold inlaid grips, that he keeps in two small-of-the-back holsters. Among the obvious modifications to the guns include skeletonized hammers, beavertail grip safeties, ambidextrous slide stop safeties, target sites, moderately bevelled magazine wells, and V-10 ported slides/barrels. He uses them akimbo during the first major gunfight of the movie, putting a hole in the windshield of the helicopter Sean Archer (John Travolta) is in and later gunning down several agents in the airport hangar. Later in the movie, when Archer has assumed Troy's identity and face, he is given these weapons by Dietrich (Nick Cassavettes). He then uses them for the proceeding gunfight as the police raid the building.

I had to look it up myself, it's on my bookmarks so I never really type the actual site address in.

I was surprised when I saw that they were TiN plated, it's the same stuff they plate tungsten carbide end mills with, it's pretty awesome material.

Now that I think about it, that would be a great material to plate gun parts with, maybe I'll look into it when I get a butt load of money to spend .

Yep, you can even search imfdb for specific guns.

They have one in Crank, Smokin' Aces, and others.

when i first got my 500 I was thinking, what if they continued the dirty harry movies to take place years later? and the s&w m29 being the most powerful handgun in the world at that time of the first dirty harry movie. Harry would come back with the s&w 500 being the most powerful production handgun today,as his new revolver hahaha

I am sure they will come out with some type of remake or spin off. You can bet they will use the 500 although Eastwood is a hard act to follow.

Whats funny is in Magnum Force he stated at the shooting range he used a "Light special" but the thing recoiled like a mag. I seen somewhere that the lines were screwed up and it was not supposed to come out as "Light Special"

I fell in love with Gina Gershon in that movie, when shes going all crazy blasting away with a MP5 "you want some of this, you want some of this"
