Thoughts on this 1911 guys? I will be pickin mine up soon cant wait! oh and whats the break in period on a brand new kimber again? how many rounds? where can i get the cheapest 45 acp ammo?

It is a fine 1911. Standard is 500 round break-in, if it needs it at all. Cheapest ammo is whatever you can currently find. Cheap and .45 ACP is not mutually inclusive.

Great gun.. my first 500 rounds were trouble free with 5 different shooters and 6 different loads.

The next 3,000 or so have been trouble free also with only 2 ammo related failures.

Get ready to spend some coin on at least 10 boxes of ammo for break in.

all but about 5 boxes of the rounds I shot through mine were my reloads at about $4 a box my cost to make.

Great gun. I love mine.
But, unless things have changed, be ready to throw away the factory mag. The only troubles I've had with the gun were traced back to the factory mag. I've heard/read others with the same problem. The gun runs fine with any of the many aftermarket mags I've used including the USGI surplus I picked up for 7 bucks a piece.
