Anyone try out the CZ 52?

Did a search on CZ 52 but nada...

So any calgunners ever try out this CZ 52? How does the 9 tok compare to 9x19 and or 357 mag? Any user input is welcome.

Try searching without the space, just "CZ52" and you'll get bunches of stuff.

I have a 52, which I shoot a lot. I reload the 7.62 x 25 rounds, which makes it quite inexpensive to shoot. I also have a 9mm barrel, so I have a pistol I can shoot all day for not much $.

Get your C&R and pick em up out of state. Best deal going for a pistol, the tok round has better penetration than the .357 magnum.

Don't have one personally, but I've read that they're pretty accurate although they don't look too ergonomic to me.

Also, the 7.62X25 is pretty zippy, with nice penetration, so that's kinda a perk in my book.

Yeah, I hate the ergonomics and the sights. I don't really care for mine much, but that's been covered in other posts...

They do have good penetration, but expansion isn't a strength, and ammo selection is pretty limited.

I used to own one before I sold/gave it to my friend but now LCPD has it for the moment. Anyway it is a great pistol, shoots one hot round at about 1250 FPS. At least that is what my friend averaged out when shooting surplus and new manufacture ammo at the range. The only complaint is that the little pin that holds the extractor in place can pop out if your not careful when shooting. Solution was to put some lock tight on the pin and problem solved. Also it throws the brass all over the place and a good 20-25 feet away at times.

I dunno... I Chrono'd mine at 1650fps with Winchester White Box ammo (Sellier and Bellot actually makes it for Winchester)

I love my CZ52. I modified mine to have a slide release and also removed the stupid firing pin interlock (that causes FPs to break when you dry fire)

2 pics of the custom slide release I made (I hand checkered it too..whoohoo lol)

2 pics of the modified firing pin and interlock system. Notice the firing pin has been turned down to accept an ink-pen spring. The notch has also been extended and the interlock itself has been modified to no longer act on the firing pin. Notice on the bottom picture, the interlock button no longer extends past the surface of the slide. This renders it inoperable. Now it functions only to hold the FP in place. I turned the FP down in my drill press with a file and some sand paper. The pen spring came from a standard "click-click" cheapo ink pen that you write with. It was a very easy and handy mod to do.

This mod results in a 100% free floating, spring loaded firing pin. No chance of slam fires and no more broken firing pins.

Heres the view from "the office" lol

I rounded out the rear sight so it wouldn't snag on anything and also opened the slot for quicker front sight acquisition.

The mod for the slide release was super simple to do...Just welded on a piece of sheetmetal that was pre-checkered with a small triangle file. I also had to slightly modify the grip panel to allow the release to clear the grip panel.

Well like I said JP it was the average taken from the really old mil surplus and the new stuff he was shooting. I never did get to ask him about just the new stuff but I know the old stuff wasn't as fast, didn't fly as far when ejected. The new stuff though will fly a good 20 feet away, making it fun to find and pick the brass up. I will have him do the numbers again when he gets if back from the PD.

It's like a real cheap .357Sig. With miserable ergonomics and an atrocious trigger (stock anyway).

A crowd pleaser to observers, but easily my least favorite pistol to shoot, that I own.

If you're looking to play with a bottleneck pistol round on the cheap, it's great. If you want a high velocity pistol that you plan to do "real" defensive work with, get something in the .357Sig. A Glock or Sig or something.

                          My $.02

I really like mine. Big, loud, ergos only a bolshevik could love. The trigger is by no means match, but its still single action and mine's actually pretty crisp. Definately as good as some new production pistols out there. The recoil system is really cool, and theres just something fun about shooting a bottlenecked pistol round than will punch through kevlar helmets.

I give mine 4 out of 5 sickles for fun factor

Century has 7.62x25 on sale for $72 for an 800rd tin. Hurry up before I buy it all

Also the Hogue Handall is a really snug fit but helps a lot IMHO.
