so what is the point of shooting higher end ammo? I mean, I know if I have Ranger t-series loaded for home defence I should get used to it and maybe dump a few mags at the range so I familiarize with the recoil and all. but I keep seeing and hearing people going to the range with HP's, +p, and some crazy expensive stuff all the time. Is there something im missing? since the mayority of people are shooting at PAPER why do some shot that higher end ammo?

✟ In the beginning was the 1911, and the 1911 was THE pistol, and it was good. And behold the Lord said, "Thou shalt not muck with my disciple John's design for it is good and it workith. For John made the 1911, and lo all of his weapons, from the designs which I, the Lord, gave him upon the mountain."✟Tags: None -
i think its to properly function check their gun with that gun in the long haul, as for me, just going shooting around 50 rounds with that ammo, if i don't get any jams, i'm g2g -
yeah thats what i would go with. but the people that shot 3-4 boxes of the good stuff every time they hit the range, will always confuse me! lolHave an idea or invention? Need something designed and made? Click: HERE

i usually put 200rds of the defensive load of choice through a gun to make sure it works and to check zero. after that it's just a couple of mags each time, more for the mags and to rotate ammo than the gun.
i usually just practice with CCI Blazer...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

Also, many SD loads are loaded hotter than target loads. I'm reminded of this everytime I shoot up some of my older SD loads. Feels 5-10% hotter (ie. tad more recoil) than my usual FMJ factory target loads, even more so compared to factory reloads.
I suppose if you have money to burn, it's good practice if you are serious about SD.
Some LE agencies are switching to using duty ammo exclusively for practice, training, in addition to qualifications.Comment
