    Sig P220 w/ .22lr slide

Hey all, found a P220 with .22lr slide for under $600. I am really interested in this combo because it is so difficult to find the .22lr conversion kit. Should I go for it? Also, is the .45 slide the only option for this pistol?

I had only middlin' success with the Sig 220 conversion kit. The problem is the magazines - they're plastic, and so the metal mag catch wears 'em down and they won't stay seated when the slide moves in/out of battery.

Sig even smithed on my mag catch (on their dime) to improve reliability with the conversion kit but to no real improvement.

✟ In the beginning was the 1911, and the 1911 was THE pistol, and it was good. And behold the Lord said, "Thou shalt not muck with my disciple John's design for it is good and it workith. For John made the 1911, and lo all of his weapons, from the designs which I, the Lord, gave him upon the mountain."✟

You'll only be able to get it in a PPT. The P220 in .22lr is not on the roster.

Get the aluminum upgrade follower from Sig Power--it also holds the slide back after ejecting the last round. Here. I upgraded my magazine and it works perfectly. Jeff is fast to fill the order and get it to you--worth the price for me. The metal catch is not wearing mine down--yet. I am going to look at it tonight to see if I can interrupt the wear with something. Wish someone would make a metal magazine for it.

It's a useful mod but doesn't improve the lifetime of the magazines...

...but it does improve the life expectancy of your barrel if you don't count rounds

Unless you are getting it via PPT, or you have a roster exemption, you can not get it.

And it has to be the right kind of PPT--either inter-family or a non-Roster Cal-registered gun here for 30 days before re-sale--to avoid the Roster restriction. So, either wait and see if McDonald goes our way and then what happens to the Roster, get something on the Roster, or exempt as above.
